Geckos and chameleons are two different varieties of lizards. Geckos have a small build, while chameleons are rather large, and geckos are usually found in warm habitats. They are known for their sweet chirping sounds. Geckos consist of three subfamilies, and about 600 species of geckos are seen. On the other hand, there are about fifty species of chameleons that are observed. The most prominent distinction of the chameleon is its ability to transform their body colors.
They have the ultimate capability of camouflage. Its color depends upon the situation. Geckos are also seen in a wide array of colors. These include blue, purple, black, and pink. Chameleons have unusual mobile eyes, long tongues, prehensile tail, and crests which rest upon their little heads. Geckos, on the other hand, are known for their fused eyelids, about seventy-five percent of the species are nocturnal with vertical or narrow pupils. They also possess very long flat bodies, short necks, and sticky tongues.
