The word "Sabbath" comes from a Hebrew word ‘shin-beit-Tav,’ and when translated, it means to rest. Sabbath is observed by both Jews and Christians since it is one of the Ten Commandments given to the people of Israel by God through Moses. According to this commandant, Israelites were instructed to observe the Sabbath, which is the seventh day of the week i.e.Saturday.
God commanded the Israelites to remember the Sabbath day and that they should keep it holy. According to the instructions that follow the commandment, Israelites are not expected to work on that day because it is a day of rest and worship. For the Jews, Saturday is still their Sabbath day. On the other hand, Christians observe the Sabbath on the first day of the week i.e., Sunday, except for some denominations in Christianity that observe the Sabbath on Saturday. For Jews, they are not expected to engage themselves in some activities on the Sabbath, whereas there's no rule stopping Christians from working on the Sabbath day.
