A fairy comes from the Latin word "fatum," and in English, it means "fate." A fairy refers to a magical being or young spirit that has not fully grown. In their order of growth, a fairy is still lower than “sylph.” Fairies are usually considered as good and pure spirits, and they have the potential to reach higher levels. Faerie, on the other hand, comes from the word “fear shidhe,” and when translated, it means man of the shee.
While fairies are usually considered as pure spirits, faeries are known to be evil, wicked beings. This does not mean that fairies are not also destructive in their operations, but they are not as wicked as faeries. Faeries are not friendly at all, but fairies are friendly and can be very nice. As you would expect, fairies are very great and excellent when it comes to how they look. In contrast, faeries are not as handsome as fairies.
