If in case you are wondering what SIP and IAX are, these are known to be very effective for doing calls. They are known to be a good alternative to the usual voice calls that people are used to. This time, they are more low cost.

SIP means Session Initiation Protocol while IAX means Inter-Asterisk Exchange. Between the two, IAX is considered to be more efficient especially when trying to utilize the needed bandwidth.

This means that if you would need to do more phone calls, you can rely on IAX better as compared to SIP. You can expect that SIP will always be in plain text while IAX will not be in plain text.
