Pyramids were built in ancient Egypt. There are also some pyramids that can be seen in South America. Another thing that you will notice about the Ziggurat is they usually have a temple top.
The main goal of the ziggurat is to ensure that people will have some sort of pathway that they can use when they want to get to heaven and when they want to praise. This is normally used in order to praise the gods.
