An indictment is a formal accusation of a crime. This has been confirmed by the grand jury. This means that a representative from the jury will read the indictment and based on the things that will be said, the person who is facing the crime will plead guilty or not guilty.

This will also be the time when the judge will set the bail amount if in case the crime that the person is facing is bailable. An arraignment is a process wherein the charges that are being made about the person will be read right in front of him/her. The person will be advised regarding his/her own rights.
