When you are trying to learn the Unix command line on Windows 7, you may feel a bit confused about the things that you are going to encounter. Two of the terms that you will find are PuTTy and Cygwin.

When you say Cygwin, this does not refer to a terminal emulator. This also does not have a terminal emulator. This is a command-line interface that you can definitely use for your Microsoft Windows.

PuTTy, on the other hand, is a type of application. This can be used for different purposes. You can use this for some other applications such as Telnet, client, TCP, and so much more.
