Gothic architecture was around in Europe and during the 12th century.

This type of architecture had pointed arches. They also had a light interior. Romanesque was also in Europe during the 12th century, but it differed, for it had rounded arches. Along with that, Romanesque architecture had an interior that was heavier.

There are a lot of people who may be confused with the different types of architecture that have occurred. Gothic and Romanesque architecture may be a bit confusing in the beginning but you should remember that they have different arches. The Gothic arches are pointed while the Romanesque arches are rounded.

You can also expect that the interiors of Romanesque architecture are going to be heavier as compared to what you have expected. They may feel like they cannot be carried at all because of how heavy they look. Gothic interiors are going to look like they are lighter. The interior is also going to look more expansive as compared to the Romanesque architecture.
