Water and Gatorade are two liquids, which help keep a person hydrated. Though both can be used for hydration, only one of them is necessary for the body to function. The necessary liquid between them is water. It is required for the body to remain balanced during all activities.

Those in the medical field recommend that a person has at least eight glasses of water a day. If it is hotter, the recommended guideline may go up to decrease dehydration. Gatorade can also be used for hydration, but it is not required for the body to operate for the body uses water. Water is a solvent. Gatorade has electrolytes to replace any electrolytes that may have disappeared when the body sweats.

Water and Gatorade are two liquid substances that can be used to quench thirst and replace lost fluids in an individual. Now when you take in water into your body, it serves as a generic means of conveying nutrients, as well as transporting waste elements. It helps to keep the internal mechanism of your body in balance. And as a way to maintain this balance, it is important you drink water before, during, and after your regular physical activities. It is recommended that you take in at least eight glasses of water every day. Moreover, the variation in the intake of water depends more on the weather condition of the environment, whether it is hot or cold.

On the other hand, Gatorade is known as one of the power beverages that are referred to as sports drinks. Water is just a regular solvent, whereas Gatorade contains electrolytes such as sodium and potassium, which serve as a replacement for the natural electrolytes that might have been missed in the body after a profuse sweating during your physical activities. The sodium present in Gatorade also helps in retaining fluid in the body. In addition, Gatorade does contain more calories.
