VR stands for vibration reduction, and Nikon already has two lenses released with this crucial technology. Nikon is continuously improving its lens, whether in its mechanical functions or design. With VRII, the overall image quality has improved immensely.

The equilibrium you derive from the VRII lens is more than the first incarnation. The major distinction between the two is the new zooming function. The original Nikon VR’s mechanical zooming creeps when situated vertically.

The new Nikon possesses a lock which prevents zoom creeping, which is a big hit with VR fans. The earlier VR is also somewhat louder when it gets going. VRII is also a higher price, but you are paying for better quality.

VR stands for vibration reduction, which is Nikon's version of image stabilization. Nikon has two lenses with this technology, which is VR and VR II. Between the two, when a VR II lens zooms, it has less creep than the VR lenses. Another difference between the two is in regard to the amount of stops that each lens.

VR has three stops, while VR II has four stops. The stops correlate with the amount of light that is allowed in, so the more stops, the more light that is allowed in. Along with that, VR II will result in better image quality

Nikon VR and VR II come with certain features, which means there are certain similarities between the two. For instance, the vibration reduction technology in the two and the image-stabilization technology in the two are the reason they share certain similarities.

However, since VR ll is the newer of the two, it comes with more enhanced features, and this is what forms the little differences between Nikon VR and VR ll. It is obvious that Nikon is doing everything towards enhancing and improving its lens, which is why there is a sharp difference in the image quality of the two cameras.

What this means is that the quality of images produced by VR ll is more enhanced compared to VR. Another difference is that the image stabilization technology in VR ll makes VR ll a great deal. Unlike VR that compensates for three stops, this goes up to four stops in VR ll.
