How and what are words used to ask questions, sometimes the answers to how and what questions are alike. “How” is used to know the method, means or manner in which something was done while “What” is used to find about something or a situation. “How” can be interpreted and used in different ways.
1. It can be used to know the extent of something, for example: “How bad is the dress?”
2. For what reason; “how dare you work out on me?”
3. In what state or condition? “How are you?”
4. At what price. How much is the dress?”
5. By what title? “How do I address your father?” And so on.
While what is used in different ways too.
1. Used to interrogate for more information. “What happened there?”
2. Used to inquire about the character. “What does he do?”
3. Used to enquire about the worth. “What importance have you added in my life?”
4. Used to indicate that which. “He got what he wished for.”
