PCM is an acronym for Powertrain Control Module, while ECU is an acronym for Engine Control Module, also known as ECU (Engine Control Unit).

These terms are used to refer to modules of cars; they are popular words in the automobile mechanic world. PCM is an electronic control unit that combines the engine and transmission control unit that provides management and correct function for the engine and transmission from one control unit, while ECM is an electronic control unit that manages the engine only.

New models have the PCM only, which controls all engines while the ECM only controls certain parts of the engine with the help of TCM (Transmission Control Module or Unit) that controls the transmission. The PCM is costlier than the ECM.

ECM and PCM are two terminologies that are used by mechanics to refer to two of the modules used in cars. ECM is an abbreviation for Engine Control Module. It can also be known as Engine Control Unit. The purpose of this module is to ensure that the systems have the correct data and processes. This helps improve the performance of the vehicle.

PCM is an abbreviation for Powertrain Control Module. This module is important to ensure that the power in the car is distributed equally. PCM is also important because it helps in the process of gear shifting, as well as the air to gas ratio.

ECM stands for Engine Control Module. There are some people who refer to this as the Engine Control Unit. This will make sure that it will get all the right data and will process the systems to ensure that the performance will always be improved. PCM stands for Powertrain Control Module.

The main goal of this is to make sure that power will be properly distributed. This will also be very effective in providing proper fuel economy. This is the main module that is in charge of making sure that shifting will be done easily. There are some essential processes that these modules do.

For example, PCM is in charge of the Air to Gas Ratio. There are still some people who can get confused about this simply because they do not know the functions of the two.
