Intermolecular and intramolecular forces that hold substances together are broken with dissolution and disintegration. Dissolution and disintegration are commonly used in chemical industries and pharmaceutical industries. Disintegration is the process in which substances are broken into tiny fragments. To disintegrate a substance means to break it into smaller chunks, molecules, or particles, the main purpose of disintegration is to improve the solubility of the substance. It applies to large solid substances.

Dissolution is a common process used in pharmaceutical industries to manufacture drugs and also check how soluble a drug is. A dissolution test detects any changes in the physical properties of the drug. Temperature is an important factor that affects dissolution; dissolution can be applied to solid, liquids, or gases.

There are some terms that may seem similar to each other but if you would look at their meanings closely, you will notice that they are different. Disintegration means that a substance will be broken down into tiny fragments so that they can become more soluble when placed in a solvent.

Dissolution is another type of process. What this does is it makes sure that the solute will be dissolved properly in a solvent. Dissolution is the process that a lot of pharmaceutical companies use right now because they want to check if the drug will have the ability to become soluble when placed in the body. Then other processes will be done to check if the medication is safe.
