Ruffle refers to sewing a strip of closely pleated cloth or fabric used for decoration or trim. A ruffle can also be the ruff of a bird. When it is used as a verb, it means disturbing the regularity or smoothness. To make ruffle or gather the fabric in a ruffle.

When speaking about sewing, it means a strip of lace, material, or ribbon tightly gathered on one end and is sewn to a costume or bedding for trimming. When speaking of frill, it means a pleated, amassed projection or border of ribbon, fabric, lace, or curled paper used for decoration.

It concerns the wrinkling that occurs at the edge of a photographic film. In dressmaking or sewing, the smaller pleats are created with ribbon or lace is sewn on the edges of skirts or dresses, and it can be said that it is “frilly.”

Some may assume that ruffles and frills are the same in the beginning because of the way that they look, but if you would look at them closely, you will realize that they have some differences. When you say frill, this is a strip of material that is pleated that you will use as a decoration.

You can place it on the end part of the fabric so that the whole thing that you are making will have a more improved appearance. A ruffle is made out of gathered or curled fabric. There are times when frills and ruffles are also used for different meanings; it would depend on what they are being used for. For example, a ruffle can sometimes mean a disturbance if it would be used in a different sentence.
