Cable and wires are terms that used interchangeably without clearly understanding the meaning. Cables and wires are mostly used in electrical and communication fields.

Cable consist of one or more conductors that envelop together in one sheath, cables have a hotline in which they carry a current and neutral line. Cables are normally classified based on the number of wires it has and also according to their gauge. Cables are available in four basic types which are namely twisted pairs, multi conductors, coaxial, and fiber optics cable.

A wire is a single conductor; the conductors of wire are made out of materials that allow electricity and signal to pass through them. Wires are mainly located inside a cable; wires are grouped based on the gauge number. The wire we used at home is 10 -20 gauges.

The wire is known to be a single conductor. The cable is known to be a group of conductors. The conductor of the wire is known to be made out of a type of material that will allow the signals or the electricity to be transmitted. Two of the most common conductor materials are aluminum and copper.

For wires, there is only a single wire that is available so they are meant to run in a parallel line. It can be a bit different for cables. There are some cables that are just parallel while there are also some twisted. It will depend on what the purpose of this cable is.
