GPRS is an acronym for (General Packet Radio Service), While EDGE is an acronym for (Enhanced Data GSM Evolution). EDGE can be referred to as advanced GPRS.

GPRS is a mobile data service, while EDGE is a digital mobile phone technology. GPRS allows operators to provide efficient mobile data service for their customers, while EDGE which was done after GPRS, providers a faster mobile data speeds a bit. EDGE allows existing TDMA and GSM carriers to provide 3G services while GPRS allows both 2G and 3G communication systems.

EDGE grants operators and service providers access to the extended wireless data application, which is not possible with GPRS. EDGE offers 236kbits of speed per second, while GPRS provides 48kbits of speed per second.

EDGE and GPRS are known to have the ability to provide the right type of experience to people so that they have the right internet services. GPRS is known to be the type of General Packet Radio Service. EDGE is known to be Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution.

GPRS is known to be very effective in providing up to 115 kbps. EDGE will have the ability to provide more data rate. It is going to be higher than 300 kbps. EDGE will make sure that a robust coding scheme can be possible especially when retransmitting the data packet. In GPRS, re segmentation cannot be done.
