SAS 70 and SSAE 16 are two types of business components. Before 2011, SAS 70 was used when a business owner needed data center services. SSAE 16 is the current business component that replaced SAS 70. One difference between the two is that SSAE 16 requires a written component. This writing is used to make sure that the objects, control designs, and the implementation of the business are clear. With this aspect, it makes SSAE 16 much more detailed and clear than SAS 70 was. All businesses do not use this, but there are different components of a business that will make them use SSAE 16.
SAS 70 used to be something that a business owner would need especially when they know that they would need data center services. It stopped in the year 2011 and in its place, the thing that replaced it is SSAE 16. One of the main differences between the two is the letter components.
For the SSAE 16, there is already a need for a written assertion to make sure that the control designs, the implementation, and the objectives are going to be clear. This will make the reporting so much more detailed as compared to how it was before when the SAS70 was being used.
Take note that there are different aspects of the business that are being considered to make use of these components.
