The lockdown in India which is arguably the largest in the world at least for now, has again been extended for the second time. The first extension which was the second phase of the lockdown was declared on April 14 and lasted for 19 days. The second extension has been declared and it is expected to last till May 17.
The only thing that will determine whether the lockdown will be extended again is the decision of the government, and this will be based on two things. First, the reason for the second extension that was declared is because more coronavirus cases are being recorded on daily basis.
So, if India is able to flatten the curve of coronavirus infections before May 17, the lockdown might not be extended any further again. If otherwise, the Indian government will have to decide whether the country can cope with the economic impacts of this pandemic if the lockdown is extended again.
