The decision that necessitated the first 21-day lockdown in India was reached by the Indian government, but the declaration was made by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rather than talking about who put India on a 21-day lockdown, I think it will be best to know what led to this. The world is currently in a fight against the novel coronavirus.
And the unfortunate thing is that the virus is spreading real fast among people. However, in a bid to effectively reduce the spread of this virus, countries have been advised to put different measures in place so that people will not be contracting the disease. Although people have been practicing social distancing, however, this might not be effective if people are allowed to go on with their normal activities.
As a result of this, the Indian government reached the decision to put the country on lockdown so that the cycle of transmission of the disease can be broken.
