A pastor is someone who does God’s work, while a Preacher spreads the word of God. It is the pastors’ obligation to guide people toward salvation. The preacher is more of a motivational speaker whose aim is to inspire, enlighten, and educate the congregation.

He spreads the word of the bible and Jesus Christ, while a pastor’s job is to look after and care for the families in his church. Pastors will often counsel and pray with the parishioners. The preacher declares a message to steer the congregation toward God, whereas pastors are more like shepherds who tend to a flock and lead the way.

Christians are often confused between the two words, a preacher and a pastor, that they often used them interchangeably.

A preacher can be defined as someone who proclaims and spread the word of God. Some of them are even regarded as motivational speakers. A preacher does not perform pastoral work unless the preacher is a pastor by vocation. A preacher can also be a member of a church with strong communication skills. Preachers are often assistants to the pastors.

A pastor is rooted in its meaning or root as a “shepherd.” A pastor overseer a congregation as the shepherd and not only that they function as a physical, spiritual, relational, social administrators of the concretion. In some churches they are called elders or leaders of a church. A pastor can be a preacher too.

A Preacher and Pastor both serve God and the church. The name Pastor was derived from the Latin word meaning Shepard. This name implies that a Pastor is someone who maintains the responsibility toward the people of his church. A Pastor speaks and teaches stories of the Bible and the word of God to his congregation. He is not limited to the Pulpit. He can have Bible study groups that meet outside of the church, and he teaches people about God.

He can also speak at funerals, visit the sick, and attend special gatherings. A preacher may even be held to a higher standard. What typically embodies a Preacher is his ability to reach his congregation, as he can move them to tears and bursts of loud joy. A Preacher moves and influences people.

Preacher and pastor are two different terms that are usually used in the Christian faith, even interchangeably. They can be correct when used interchangeably sometimes, and can still be wrong sometimes. This is simply because a pastor can also be referred to as a preacher, while a preacher might not necessarily be a pastor. Preachers generally are those who take the word of God to people; that is, they usually preach in different places. A preacher might not necessarily own a church or be in charge of a church.

Conversely, a pastor is known to be in charge of a congregation -a church. Relatively, the pastor means shepherd, whereas the members of the church are religiously referred to as flocks. Hence, a pastor is considered to teach, guide, and put the members of the church through different aspects of life. In addition, a pastor usually functions as the administrator of a church, while a preacher does not necessarily administer a church.
