What is the difference between Concrete and Wood?

Concrete and wood are popular materials that are used in construction. Depending on the type of construction being done, it can impact the decision to use either concrete or wood. The appearance between the two is one of the main differences between the two. Wood is the color brown. However, there are some woods that can be lighter in color, such as a light gray. Concrete is traditionally white or gray. Another difference between them is how they are made. Wood comes from trees and is made with fibers. Cement is what makes concrete. To make the final product, the cement is combined with either water or sand.

Wood is organic, natural, and is a product of trees. Most woods are brown; however, some are lighter in color. Wood is an accumulation of cellulose with the fibers intact, which makes it firm and resistant to outside forces. Wood is used for many purposes other than furniture. It is used for providing fuel, packaging, and even for producing paper.

Concrete is made of cement and other building ingredients such as water and sand, among others. It is one of the most regularly used building materials. When aggregate is mixed with dry cement and water, the mixture forms a fluid substance that is easily poured and formed into shape.

The way concrete is handled after it is poured is particularly important. Unlike wood, the concrete material hardens after the water has been mixed and endured the hydration process.
