Earphones and headphones are two ways to listen to sound from a device. Both can be hooked up to devices such as phones, laptops, and tablets to play audio. They are connected through an audio jack. The difference between them is how they worn. Earphones have two buds and are inserted directly into the left and right ears. Headphones go over the head. Along with that, another difference between them is size. Earphones tend to be more compact and smaller because they are inserted into the ear. Headphones are larger in size and can not be carried in a compact fashion.

There are a lot of people who use these two terms interchangeably, but there are some differences that you should know. The headphones have been designed to be placed around the head. They are normally required to be placed around the ears of the user. The earphones are usually placed on the ears of the user.
This means that you would need to place it near your ear canal so that you can start hearing the conversation, video, or music better. In terms of appearance, you will immediately know their difference when you see them. There was a time when headphones and earphones are always wired. Right now, this is not necessary anymore.
