Taxi and cab are two words that can be used interchangeably, for they mean the same thing. Taxi and cab both derive from the full word of a taxicab. One difference between them is the use of the words. In countries where their official language is English, they can use both tax and cab. In countries that do speak English, they will mainly say taxi. Another difference between the two is how they are obtained. In places like New York and the UK, a taxi must be hailed by tracking them down in person. However, a cab can be obtained online.

The taxi and the cab are normally used to describe the same mode of transportation. It is rented for transportation. One of the differences is cab is normally used in Europe while the taxi is normally used in the United States. It seems that cab is a term that has come from the word “cabriolet.”
This does not mean vehicle, though. Rather, this refers to horses, which are considered to be one of the earliest means of transportation that was only available to those who were rich in the past. The taxi truly refers to a vehicle that is normally rented out by people to get from one place to another.
