There are many dairy products that are available to purchase. Two of them are buttermilk and yogurt. Though they are both dairy products, they have many differences between them. One of those differences is in regard to their nutritional levels. Compared to buttermilk, yogurt is much healthier. The bacteria in the yogurt is helpful to keep a person's digestive system regular. and it has high protein levels.

Buttermilk and yogurt are both dairy products. However, yogurt is much healthier. For starters, buttermilk has less energy and protein than yogurt. However, their carbohydrate content is practically the same. These two products also differ in bacterial content. The bacteria in yogurt and buttermilk are said to be extremely helpful in assisting digestion from the gut and maintaining regularity, and this bacterium is called probiotics.

The bacteria in yogurt and adds live bacteria into a milk product. The bacteria in buttermilk is called streptococcus lactis and leuconostoc citrovorum. Some of the foods that are made with buttermilk include biscuits, pancakes, waffles, chocolate cake, pound cake, creamy salad dressings, and muffins. Store-bought buttermilk is more acidic than the homemade version. However, if you are looking for a yummy snack that is healthy, low in calories, and high in protein, nothing beats a delicious cup of yogurt.
