The family room is an informal and multipurpose space in the house. It is for the family members to relax and interact after a long day of work. The family room also acts as a place where the kids play, and the adults can relax over a cup of tea to read the newspaper and also play.

An ideal living room should be accommodating, welcoming, and nice. It is usually the first part of the house. A living room has normally designed to make the guest comfortable; it has the TV set to make the guest comfortable.
A lot of people think that a family room and a living room are the same, but actually, there are some differences. When you say the family room, this is not considered to be very formal. This is the place where the family members hang out. This may be located somewhere in the house but it is not near the main entrance.
The living room is usually located near the main entrance because this is the place where the guests are expected to hangout. This is also more furnished and a lot of thought may have been placed in making sure that the living room has been properly arranged.
