Coronavirus is dangerous to everyone. All age brackets are prone to this illness. It is best to avoid getting the virus by following all the precautions for this disease. Covid- 19 is a respecter of nobody, as mentioned before.

However, some specific people are at a higher risk of catching this virus. These people include people with serious health conditions such as heart or lung disease, severe obesity, diabetes, week immune system, cancer, sickle cell disease, smokers, chronic kidney disease.

Asthma, liver disease, hypertension, cystic fibrosis, and so much more. People that are also 65 years old or more also tend to catch the virus very fast. Healthcare workers are also prone to this disease as they are always with the patients, administering medications to them.

The risk of acquiring dangerous symptoms of COVID-19 may be increased in those who are older and also in individuals of any age who have other serious health problems, such as heart or lung disease, weakened immune systems, severe obesity, or diabetes. This increase is similar to what is seen with other respiratory illnesses such as influenza.

People any age are susceptible to catching COVID-19, including anyone from a small child to a college-age kid to an adult or an older person. This disease does not discriminate. However, it is more prevalent in middle-aged and older adults, especially those who are immune compromised.

It is possible for anyone to contract the virus. However, those who are at more risk to show symptoms and to suffer from it are those that are 65 years old or older. Along with that, anyone that may have an underlying medical condition would be at risk of suffering from the virus.

This is why it is recommended that does that fall into one or both of those categories should stay at home, for they are more at risk to contract the virus and to land in the hospital from the virus. If a person falls into these categories and feels sick, they should contact their health provider to get a test.

Those who are considered to be at high risk of acquiring Coronavirus are those who are over the age of 60. Another group that can be affected by the Coronavirus more is those who have compromised immune systems. This means that those who do not have strong immune systems will have a higher chance of acquiring the disease and getting the worst level of the disease when they become infected.

Take note that this virus can affect people of any age. Even those who think that they are perfectly healthy will always be at risk of acquiring the virus. People are always recommended to try their best to stay at home.

There are some people who are carriers of Coronavirus, and they are not even aware of it. They are asymptomatic, which means that they are not experiencing any symptoms. It is always risky for those who are older to have COVID 19 probably because their immune system is already not at its best.

Another factor that can make people become more prone to the disease is if they are already diagnosed with an underlying condition. There are also some reports stating that smokers will also have a higher chance of not being able to recover from the disease, probably because their lungs are not in the best condition.

Based on the current information available about the severity of the disease, the people at high risk are the older people and people of any age with serious underlying medical conditions.

People who are above the age of 65 years and people in nursing homes or long-term care facilities have a high risk of the virus due to their low immune systems functions.

People with serious medical conditions such as lung disease, severe asthma, heart conditions, diabetes patient, chronic kidney disease, and also those suffering from liver disease.

If not properly controlled, these people have a high risk of getting severely sick from the coronavirus. It is important that such people call for medical attention as soon as they suspect symptoms.

Experts have said that age is not the only key factor in determining the risk for severe illness or death from the coronavirus. The older population and those who have chronic diseases are at the highest risk. However, not everyone in the high-risk category has the same level of risk.

For example, having heart disease is one of the high- risk groups to obtain the coronavirus. Heart disease involves a lot of conditions. This group includes a history of heart attack, heart failure, irregular heartbeat, peripheral artery disease, and even high blood pressure. People who possess these key variables are all at a higher risk.

Generally, someone who is older and has severe heart failure is an increased risk because of those two factors. If they do procure the virus, they are far more likely to experience complications than someone who is younger and does not have these factors working against them. Anyone immune-compromised is at a higher risk, and this includes ailments such as diabetes, high cholesterol, and prediabetes.
