The atom is known to be the smallest unit of an element. This may sometimes exist freely but there are also times when it will not be able to exist freely. A molecule is considered to be bigger because this is already made up of different atoms.
It can be described as a cluster of atoms. There are various bonds that will hold the various atoms together. When it comes to compounds, it will be nearly impossible to try to find the atoms. Rather, what you would look for are the various molecules that can be found in compounds.
Take note that there are different types of bonds that are available such as covalent, ionic, or metallic that will hold atoms together to form molecules.

Molecules are constructed of atoms. The key difference between the molecule and the atom is that a molecule is a combination of two or more atoms through chemical bonding. In contrast, an atom is a separate chemical species that can merge to form molecules and ions.
A molecule is a cluster of atoms that work together through chemical bonds. These atoms can be of the same elements, or they may be from different chemical compositions—the atoms and molecule work through covalent links or ionic links. A covalent chemical bond develops when atoms share their electrons to conquer conformations.
An atom is the tiniest repeating unit that makes up all matter. An atom consists of an atomic nucleus harboring protons and neutrons. The nucleus is supplied with electrons. Typically, the number of protons corresponds to the number of electrons and neutrons.
