The USB terminology can be very confusing for a lot of people. One thing that is for sure is that USB has made it a lot easier for people to transfer or even save their files depending on the type of USB device that they already have.
What makes these two USB types different is their speed transfers. It is obvious that USB 2.0 will be able to transfer files easier and faster as compared to USB 1.0. Right now, a lot of people are using USB 3.0 and above because of the faster speed transfers.
Also, there are a lot of gadgets that do not have USB ports that will be able to support lower versions such as the 1.0 and the 2.0.
The original standard of USB is 1.0, and The improved version is USB 2.0. The variance between the two devices is that the first USB can only reach a maximum speed of 12Mbs, while 2.0 devices can obtain a rate of up to 40 times that at 480Mbps. Certain variables can affect the speed of both. The first USB implementation did not give any option for high-speed data transmission.
USB was for mice, keyboards, game controllers, as well as other forms of equipment generally only transmitted a very minimal amount of information to function correctly. However, as UB became more widespread, more equipment began to use USB because of the increasing popularity of the USB port and the effortless simplicity of plugging them into the devices.
