Aside from the fact both are used for cooking, there are certain differences between the two. One of the major differences between the two is that both are used for different types of cooking. Another difference between an induction cooktop and an oven is that the technique used by the two when generating heat is not the same.
The induction cooktop generates its heat through induction. When an alternating electric current is passed through a coil of copper wire that is placed in the cooking pot, a magnetic field is produced. As a result of this method, heat is generated. On the other hand, an oven is an enclosed chamber used for baking, drying, heating, etc.
There are different types of ovens; they include; microwave ovens, gas ovens, earth ovens, ceramic ovens, etc. Unlike induction cooktops that make use of heat generated through induction, ovens are usually fueled by electricity or gas. Another difference is that an oven cannot be used for frying, whereas induction cooktop can be used for frying.
