Ambien is a hypnotic pill that helps in curing short-term amnesia. It works by allowing the patient to sleep. It has an effect that lasts for 2-3 hours; the patient feels the effect of the drug kick-starting within 30 minutes. This drug is only permitted by doctors, which means it cannot be procured without a doctor’s prescription.
The reason is that just like pain-relieving drugs, the long-term use of this drug could cause drug dependency for the users. On the other hand, Ambien CR is a sleeping pill usually prescribed for an adult having insomnia. This drug has been proven to work on having trouble falling asleep and/or staying asleep. Ambien CR differs from Ambien in that it has two layers of Zolpidem. The first layer usually works exactly like Ambien in that it makes the patient feel relaxed, so they quickly fall asleep and then stay asleep. The second layer enables patients to stay asleep for as long as seven hours.
There are some people who normally have a hard time sleeping at night. Some of them would need sleep aids so that they can fall asleep better and faster. Some people would take Ambien and some would choose to take Ambien CR.
If you are wondering about the difference between the two, Ambien is meant to help people fall asleep faster while Ambien CR is meant to make people fall asleep and stay asleep for a longer period of time. There are a lot of people who would like to stay asleep because they know that they badly need it. Take note that you need to have a prescription to be able to access these medications.
