A planet is any of the major bodies that orbit the sun. A planet is most times described as a rocky or gaseous celestial body that has achieved hydrostatic equilibrium. Currently, there are eight planets in the solar system. They include; Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
It used to be nine with the inclusion of Pluto, but since it has not cleared its neighboring region of other competing bodies, it cannot be regarded as a planet. On the other hand, a dwarf planet is also a celestial body. It has sufficient mass, which makes it to overcome other fixed body forces.
Due to this, a dwarf planet also has its own gravity. A lot of celestial bodies are still known as dwarf bodies because they have not cleared their neighboring region of other competing bodies. It was because of this reason that Pluto is now being referred to as a dwarf planet.
