Although black and yellow mustard seeds are a bit similar in terms of shape and size, there are, however, some differences between the two. One of the major differences between the two is that both originated from different regions. The origin of the black mustard seeds can be traced to the Middle East, whereas the yellow mustard seeds originated from the East Mediterranean region.
Although both types of mustard seeds are very small, however, yellow mustard seeds are bigger than black mustard seeds. In terms of color, which is one of the major differences between the two, black mustard seeds are black in color, and at times they tend to have a very dark brown color.
In contrast, yellow mustard seeds are yellow in color. Yellow mustard seeds are commonly used in the United States, whereas the black ones are commonly found and used in India and in other Asian countries.
