USB is the short form for Universal Serial Bus. It is used to connect two devices, the host controller and the other device. There are different types of USB; however, we will be the focus on the difference between USB.2.0 and USB.3.0. USB.2.0 is also called hi-speed USB, while USB.3.0 is also called super speed USB.

The USB.2.0 was introduced in 2000 while USB 3.0. was introduced in November 2009. USB.2.0 is an updated version for USB.1.1, while USB 3.0. is an improved version of USB 2.0. transfer speed for USB 2.0 is 480 megabits per second while that of 3.0 is 5 gigabits per second.

The USB. 2.0 is a one-way communication, while 3.0 is two-way communication. USB 2.0 has four wires, while 3.0 has 9 wires. USB 2.0. deliver 500mA amount of power while it delivers 900 mA of power.

When you are looking at some of the devices that are available, you may be wondering what are the differences between a USB 2.0 and a USB 3.0. One of the main differences is its speed. Expect that a USB 2.0 will have a transfer speed of 480 Mbps.

The speed of the USB 3.0 is going to be much faster at 4800 Mbps. This means that if you would choose the USB 3.0, you can expect that the transfer of the various files that you may have are relatively faster as compared to the USB 2.0. This can be very helpful especially when you know that you need to transfer media files in a limited amount of time.
