The American League and National League are considered as the major baseball leagues in the United States today.

The American League (AL) short form for the American League of the professional baseball club, it was established in 1901, by 1977 American league has spread out into 14 teams.

On the other hand, the National League is also known as the national league of professional baseball clubs, it was founded in 1876 and has grown into 16 teams to date. It is about two decades older than the American League.

When it comes to the playing styles, the national league is oriented towards pitching with a stronger emphasis on the offensive running while the American league focuses on the home run and highly depends on power overall. When it comes to the number of games won, American league has won more games than the national league with 1,249 to 1202 respectively.

Some people may wonder why there is an American League and a National League. They may also wonder if there are also some differences between the two. These are separate organizations that may have some differences, especially in the way that they play games. For instance, those who play in the American League or those who are more familiar with the American League are aware that a designated hitter should be used.

The National League will not need a designated hitter anymore, which means that all of the members of the team would need to hit and also bat depending on the rotation. This difference allows people to see other differences when they probe further.
