Oatmeal is the result of the grain or flour being removed to make the actual bran, which strips the bran of some nutrients that were in the bran before it being stripped bare. Oatmeal is considered as the entire oat grounded groats, while the oat bran is just the bran part of the oats.
Oat bran has better protein and fiber and satiety. Although both products derived from whole oats, they end up becoming different products after having undergone numerous processes. Upon the oats being separated, they were then formed into flakes of varying widths or sizes through rolling and flattening.
These rolled flakes are what people identify as the oatmeal. With oat bran, the item endures a series of rollers that will, in turn, separate the bran from the rest of the parts. Oat bran can be used as a bread enhancer. Oatmeal can be made into porridge and delicious oatmeal cookies.
