The main distinction between mitochondria and plastids is that mitochondria participate in the energy production of the cell through cellular respiration, while plastids have various tasks, such as food storage and photosynthesis. The mitochondrion is an organelle in which aerobic cellular respiration happens in the cell.
Aside from serving this purpose, they also store up calcium and play a role in cell signaling. Mitochondria are also involved in heat fabrication or thermogenesis. A plastid, on the other hand, is an organelle with a dual membrane that is found in some eukaryotic cells and typically contains pigments or stores food.
Plastids are not located in animal cells. The differentiation of chromoplasts from chloroplasts arises as the fruit ripens. The particular colors of flowers are also a result of chromoplasts, and these colors attract pollinators to the flower.
