RTF is a cross-platform file format of Microsoft word. Only a small number of software can open the DOC files. The RTF file is much smaller compared to the DOC file. DOC format is preferred when it comes to word processing documents. This format is used by Microsoft Word, which is a top-rated word processing application that comes with Microsoft. RTE is an older file format which was also created by Microsoft for word, but now the program is obsolete.

DOC’s permit you to format your document to your liking, while RTF only provides simple options in boldface italics, font sizes, and types. RTF files have one advantage to them. They can be open and read with a text editor while DOC cannot be read. With DOC, on the other hand, the only thing you need to obtain your files is internet access.
