One of the things that have become obvious over the past weeks is that Coronavirus can also be passed on among the cat family, which is why the term Feline Coronavirus has started to become known, especially among cat lovers from various parts of the world. This type of virus can cause either FECV or Feline Enteric Coronavirus or FIPV, which is Feline Infectious Peritonitis Virus. Usually, the virus will become obvious through the stools of cats. Those who have this condition will show some signs of lethargy. Some of them may even have diarrhea. Take note that there are times when this may mutate, and it can become even deadlier for the infected cats.

Feline coronavirus an last over the course of several months to years. It can all depend on if the feline is the chronic shedding carrier or not. To determine if the feline is the carrier or not, they must test positive to the virus over an 8 month period.

If anytime during that 8 month period they test negative, then they are not the carrier. This virus is common in felines and may also be persistent during their lifetime. It spreads quickly to other cats because the virus is normally asymptomatic. They oftentimes shed the virus through their feces and is not noticed.

Feline Coronavirus is a disease common to cats. The virus is usually present in the feces of cats and can be contacted by other cats when they are exposed to the virus. Although it is an infectious disease, it is not a contagious disease since it cannot be passed to other animals.

The most common way of transmission among cats is when they are exposed to feces in a litter tray. Most cats become vulnerable to this disease at a particular stage of their lives. Unfortunately, their owners may not be aware of this. When feline coronavirus is present in the soil, it can survive for about two weeks, and any cat that gets exposed to the virus during this period will contract the disease.

On the other hand, once the disease because activated in the body of a cat, it can last for many weeks and even months. After this period, a cat can also be re-infected.
