Hope and wish are two words used by many people to show their desire for something to happen. Also, both words can be used when we don't want certain things to happen. The two words are not totally the same, and their major difference lies in the proper usage of each word. Wish simply means a desire or longing for something, especially for something that one desires to see or have.
For example, I wish to see my brothers tomorrow. On the other hand, hope refers to a feeling of belief, trust, confidence that something will or can happen. For example, I still have some hope that I will see my brothers tomorrow.
This feeling of trust in something you hope for is the basic difference between the two words. People use the word "wish" when the probability of something occurring is very low, whereas the reverse is the case when people use the word "hope."
