Endoscopy and laparoscopy are two types of surgical operations performed whenever a doctor wants to diagnose certain diseases in the body. One of the main differences between the two is that both are used to diagnose certain diseases in different parts of the body.
Endoscopy is performed to examine the digestive tract. And when talking about the digestive tract, the stomach, esophagus, and the duodenum are the main parts of the digestive tract that are critically examined by a gastroenterologist using particular equipment to have a good view.
On the other hand, laparoscopy is performed to examine the abdomen or the loins. Before this can be done, a small incision will be made so as to easily insert a telescope so that the abdominal area can be clearly seen during the operation. While you will need to perform a small incision during laparoscopy, however, this is not required during endoscopy.
