A laptop is basically a portable computer, while a tablet is a touch screen computing device. Laptops are bigger, thicker, and heavier than tablets. Tablets have onscreen keyboards while Laptops have a physical keyboard. Laptops usually have trackpads that serve as a mouse while they can also have an external mouse, but tablets have a touch screen for all their functions.

The battery life of laptops is usually weak, owing to the fact that they need to power some greater device from within the computer system while the battery life of tablets is usually longer. Laptops have large batteries, and they are also removable, while tablets have an inbuilt non-removable battery

Some tablets have a slot for inserting a SIM card, while laptops do not have any slot for SIM card. Tablets do not have CD or DVD Rom while some laptops have a CD or DVD ROM. Laptops have more features and are also more expensive than tablets.

One of the main differences that you will see between a laptop and a tablet is the presence of a keyboard. A tablet will have no keyboard while the laptop will definitely have a keyboard. This can make the laptop more ideal for doing work, which is quite common for a lot of people who own laptops. Of course, a tablet can also be fitted in with a keyboard, but the keyboard is not built-in.

There are some laptops right now that is also a touchscreen, which means that you just need to use your fingers in order to access various icons. For tablets, all tablets are expected to be a touchscreen. Tablets are considered to be better when it comes to portability, but if you want to do work better, laptops can be more ideal.
