The Ph.D. degree is needed to be presented before you can be offered some jobs. Moreover, you must obtain a Ph.D. before you can be referred to as a professor. On the other side of the coin, EdD is the abbreviation for Doctor of Education Degree, and it is a doctorate that is based on a particular discipline. This degree helps to prepare you for work in educational institutions in the fields of the academe, research or clinical positions, and administration. The EdD happens to be a terminal degree that is recognized by the National Science Foundation, and it is of Ph.D. equivalent.

It can be complicated to know the difference between Ed.D and Ph.D., especially when you are not sure what these two are. Basically, an Ed.D is meant to provide more knowledge to you when you want to have an extra degree that will be effective for Early Childhood Education and a lot of the other scopes that are available.

You can choose the type of tract that you want. Some would choose Reading and Literacy Leadership, but there are definitely different ones that you can find. If you want to have a Ph.D., this means that you would like to become a college professor. Take note that both fields would require research before you can finish with them.
