What is the difference between EDD and PhD?

Ph.D. and EdD are two common higher and advanced learning degrees. The Ph.D. abbreviation simply stands for Doctor of Philosophy. This is actually one of the highest educational degrees you can earn, and it is usually awarded by universities. You can earn the Doctor of Philosophy degree in any field of study that is offered by a university.

The Ph.D. degree is needed to be presented before you can be offered some jobs. Moreover, you must obtain a Ph.D. before you can be referred to as a professor. On the other side of the coin, EdD is the abbreviation for Doctor of Education Degree, and it is a doctorate that is based on a particular discipline. This degree helps to prepare you for work in educational institutions in the fields of the academe, research or clinical positions, and administration. The EdD happens to be a terminal degree that is recognized by the National Science Foundation, and it is of Ph.D. equivalent.

It can be complicated to know the difference between Ed.D and Ph.D., especially when you are not sure what these two are. Basically, an Ed.D is meant to provide more knowledge to you when you want to have an extra degree that will be effective for Early Childhood Education and a lot of the other scopes that are available.
