Ethiopia is not an Islamic country like Algeria, Egypt, which are predominantly Islamic countries. There are so many religions in Ethiopia, and the most common ones are Christianity and Islam. Although both religions are widely practiced in the country, however, Christianity is the largest religion in the country. Islam is the second-largest religion in the country.
According to statistics, the population of the Christians in the country represents about 62.8 percent of their total population. The majority of these Christians are Orthodox Christians, while protestant and Roman Catholic represent just a fraction of the total population of all the Christians in the country. On the other hand, the population of Muslims in the country represents about 33.9 percent of the country's total population. The remaining percentage represents those that are identifying themselves as Jewish, Hindu, etc. Invariably, Ethiopia does not have Islam as its only religion; in fact, the population of Christians in Ethiopia is bigger than that of Muslims.
