"Ceres is the largest asteroid ever. This makes it very famous. Ceres was discovered by an Italian astronomer named Giuseppe Piazzi. He thought the asteroid was another planet, a comet, or maybe an entity moving around the orbit. Ceres was discovered on the first day of January 1801.
Unlike other asteroids that exist in the asteroid belt, Ceres exists between the orbit of Mars and Jupiter. It is mostly regarded as a dwarf planet; it is the largest known asteroid. The size of an asteroid is about one- a quarter of the size of the earth.
Ceres contains about 25% of the mass of another asteroid, it is spherical in shape, unlike other asteroids that have irregular shapes. Ceres has a diameter of 974 km. It was also the first asteroid to be discovered."

The largest asteroid ever discovered is Ceres. It exists between the orbit of Mars and Jupiter. It was discovered in 1801 by an Italian astronomer by the name Giuseppe Piazzi. This man got to know this asteroid when he was trying to ascertain whether an entity moving round the sun between the orbit of Mars and Jupiter was another planet or an ordinary object.
Ceres is mostly regarded as a dwarf planet, and it was the first asteroid to be detected in the main asteroid belt. It is the biggest in terms of size, having a size that is one-quarter of the mass of the moon. This shows how big the asteroid is, and it also shows the level of destruction that awaits the planet Earth if the asteroid collides with it. In terms of shape, Ceres is spherical in shape, unlike other asteroids that have irregular shapes. The total diameter of this asteroid is 945 kilometers.
