The most famous asteroid is the dwarf planet (Ceres), which was discovered by an Italian astronomer named Giuseppe Piazzi. It was discovered on the first day of January 1801. The astronomer thought it was a new comet.

Ceres is famous because of the qualities it possesses, which makes it different from other asteroids. It is believed to be the largest asteroid. It contains about 25% of the mass of other asteroids, and it is 974 km in diameter.

Ceres is the only asteroid that does not have an irregular shape but the spherical shape. Ceres orbit within the main asteroid belt located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

Other famous asteroids include Pallas, which is 544 kilometers huge, and Vesta, which is a very bright large object.

The famous asteroid is known as Ceres, and it is most times referred to as dwarf planet Ceres. It is the most famous asteroid because it has certain qualities that differentiate it from the rest. Ceres is believed to be the largest asteroid ever detected; its size is about one-quarter of the total size of the moon.

It exists in the main asteroid belt between the orbit of Mars and Jupiter, and it also orbits the sun just like the rest of the planets. Another interesting fact about Ceres is that while other asteroids possess irregular shapes, Ceres is a spherical object. According to researches, Ceres was the first to be detected before other asteroids were discovered.

An Italian astronomer Giuseppe Piazzi discovered this asteroid when he was searching for an object which looked so much like a planet within the orbit of Mars and Jupiter. The latest reports about the Ceres confirmed that the asteroid has ice particles in its poles.
