SIM stands for the subscriber identification module. It is a special card that holds information set on your phone. SIM contains permanent records of the person's identity and authentication. SIM cards today come with a myriad of different functions. Micro SIM is the type used by the more expensive smartphones. It's a smaller version of the mini-SIM cards with the extra plastic trimmed off around the circuit.

The Micro SIM was created for backward compatibility since it holds the same information as the previous card. The Nano-SIM cards are the smallest of all the SIM card specifications used in the more recent smartphones. Nano SIM cards are more modest and slimmer than the others. Nano SIM has been, over time, take control of the other SIM cards before it.
