Share permissions are something that you can easily manage and apply. When you say NFTS, this means that you will be able to provide a stricter control to the different users that are available. When you say NFTS, you can only provide access to the users who have already logged on to the servers that you have. For share permissions, you can provide access to different people who may come from different networks too. You can configure the share permissions in the advanced sharing properties. You can check this out in the “permissions” settings. Take note that NFTS can sometimes override share permissions. Take note of this when you are checking out the settings of your different folders.

NTFS is a more recent technology compared to share permissions. NTFS is the short form of the New Technology File System. NTFS permissions can only work for local users of the machine. It is a function that helps prevent unauthorized access to certain applications and also to stop the execution of those applications.

In the case of share permissions, this function comes in handy to help prevent an individual working remotely on the machine from unauthorized executions of applications. With the explanation above, it is very obvious that the location of the person accessing the computer is the major difference between the two.

If an operating system has NTFS, all the folders and files in it will automatically have the NTFS permissions, whereas you will need to share your files and folders before the share permissions can work. However, it is obvious both NTFS and share permissions are just security functions to protect your computer.

Are you confused with the differences between NTFS permissions and share permissions? Do not worry because you are not alone. NTFS means New Technology File System. NTFS permissions can be used by those who are logged on to the server. Take note that there are different levels of NTFS permissions that are available that will help you control the type of access available.

Those who use share permissions do not have to log in. When you are using share permissions, you will be allowed to control the number of connections that are available to access a shared folder. Remember that for share permissions, you always have the choice to deny or allow the people who would like to enter.
