When you say CST, you are referring to Central Standard Time. When you say IST, you mean to say Indian Standard Time. The main difference between the two is that Central Standard Time is behind IST by about 10 hours and 30 minutes. It is important that you get to know the different time zones because there are instances when people have made a mistake because of this. You may also have to know the differences especially when you need to create a conference meeting that will require people from different time zones to take part. There are some conversion tables that are available online for your reference.

The concept of the time zone is very important as it helps us to know the time difference between two different places that use different time zones, though there are also many challenging parts of it. CST is the short form of Central Standard Time, while IST is the short form of Indian Standard Time.

The major difference between the two time zones is their time differences, most especially with respect to the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) or Greenwich Mean Time. With respect to Coordinated Universe Time, the Indian Standard Time is plus five hours and thirty minutes(+5:30), while the Central Standard Time (CST) is minus 6 hours(-6hours).

The implication of this is that the Central Standard Time will be eleven hours plus thirty minutes later than the Indian Standard Time. This means that if it is 12:00 pm in India, it will be around 1:30 am in America. CST is the time zone used in Central North America, while IST is the time zone used in India.

It will always be difficult to master the different time zones that are available but if you would like to know the difference between CST and IST, it is always possible. Take note that the CST time zone can mean different things. It can stand for Chung Yuan Standard Time which means Taiwan. It can also mean China Standard Time.

For IST, it can mean Indian Standard Time or Israel Standard Time. You should know exactly what you are looking for so that you will not get distracted. However, if you would like to know the usual uses of the two, it is probably Central Standard Time and Indian Standard Time. These two timezones are about 10 hours and 30 minutes apart.
