Oysters and clams belong to the mollusk class and are eaten everywhere around the world; however, there have many differences. After the first stages of life, the oyster becomes attached to the same place their entire life. Clams can move around on its foot, which was designed explicitly for locomotion. Many prefer clams over oysters.
Oysters are often said to possess a soft, slimy texture. The outside shell of the clam is smooth and shiny, while the oyster has a harder outer shell. Something unique and exciting about oysters is that they produce pearls. Clams, on the other hand, do not. The largest pearl found in oysters is roughly the size of a dinner plate. Clams are generally found in freshwaters, while oysters are found in marine habitats.
