In the 1960s, both the United States and the Soviet Union developed missile programs to achieve new records and maintain their reputation. Today, space travel is not a competition. During WWII, missiles and rockets were utilized as weapons, and after the end of the war, the United States and the Soviet Union began their missile programs, which started the "space race."

At the end of the cold war, satellite communicators, monitors, and drones came into the spotlight. Space was no longer a competition between the two of them. Instead, space missions have become a beacon of international collaboration in which all parties are interested in progressing as a whole, rather than being number one.
